Use evidence labels that match the source. A jail release entry with an actual timestamp can support “confirmed released.” A VINE event without the underlying jail record is better described as “reported released.” A named receiving custodian supports “transferred.” No search result only supports “not found” for the exact query and time. It cannot establish release.
If a result shows release while a family cannot locate the person, read which agency generated it and whether another notice followed. Confirm Union County VINELink Releases
VINE depends on the booking or corrections record supplied by the agency. Data can lag. Rapid custody moves can trigger several notices, and the latest one may change the meaning of an earlier release message. The system is not a guarantee of physical safety or minute-by-minute status. Confirm consequential questions with the source custodian and preserve the agency name, event wording, date, and time.
For a Union County jail event, call the Sheriff’s Office at 662-534-1943 and ask whether the person left for the community or a named receiving agency. Request the public release-log entry for written proof. Immigration detention belongs in ICE ODLS. An empty federal or immigration result is not a release certificate. It requires identity checks and agency follow-up.
Union County Registration Link Continuity
Mississippi’s Registration Link is especially useful when a Union County detainee moves into MDOC or “other custody.” Where offered, enable or retain that link. It can carry the registration across the county-to-state change so a disappearance from the county source is not mistaken for community release. Resolve Missing Union County Results
A blank VINELink search does not establish that a person was released. First retry spelling variants, hyphens, suffixes, aliases, and a known offender ID. Check whether the arresting agency was New Albany Police or another local agency and whether the person ever reached Union County Jail. A short city-level custody event may end before county booking. Data timing, an unparticipating flow, a transfer, or a wrong identity match can also explain an empty result.
Find the last positive custody source next. If it was Union County Jail, call 662-534-1943 and ask the exact question: is the person still held, released to the community, or transferred to another custodian? For written proof, request the booking sheet, jail card, custody movement history, and release-log entry. If the last source was MDOC, use the inmate search and separate Parolee Search. A person can be outside a prison yet remain under parole, probation, or Earned Release Supervision. The local Union Probation & Parole Office can confirm public supervision status. A missing MDOC result may simply mean the person was never committed to state custody. It does not resolve a county-jail release.
For a federal sentence, search BOP by name or register number. For federal pretrial custody, use the court docket and U.S. Marshals route because the person may be held in a contract facility. ICE ODLS is the immigration source, but its zero result also needs follow-up. Durable agency and court records close these gaps more reliably than repeated searches of a current-status tool.
